The University of New Orleans continues to address financial challenges due to low enrollment, announcing more layoffs Thursday. A message was sent to faculty and staff Thursday afternoon. According to the letter from President Kathy Johnson, the university will temporarily realign five degree-conferring units into two academic colleges. The letter also states that the number of vice presidents at the school will be reduced, as well as the number of academic deans, directors and department chairs.The changes will go into effect in January 2025. This announcement comes after a series of budget cuts and layoffs earlier this year.
