The first Section VII Champlain Valley Athletic Conference head-to-head boys basketball contest of the year featured some high-level defensive plays. That included a major chase down block by Ausable Valley High School’s Celton Dupuis. The rejection, which stopped what looked to be an easy layup for Northern Adirondack High School’s Kingston Tucker, helped the Patriots hold the Bobcats to 19 points of total offense in the second and third quarters. However, a strong 18-point fourth quarter from NAC helped them pull away down the stretch in a 54-43 victory. “We knew that we had to come out. We had to work,” said NAC center Shane Gilmore. “We had a timeout; we said, ‘We got to get this. We have them.
