Weber County announces adoption of Nordic Village project [Video]

SALT LAKE CITY — During a Dec. 31 commission meeting, Weber County opted to reinvest in a project area in and around Nordic Valley Ski Resort. The project has been pursued by Nordic Village Venture, LLC. 

Investments will be funded by property tax increases. Weber County said the money will be directed to long-term sustainability efforts and infrastructure.

For example, Weber County said the area will be getting a “much-needed” wastewater and water reuse treatment system and new water and sewer conveyance systems. Additionally, the project will fund road improvements and park and trail development. 

Additionally, 50 employee housing units for Nordic Valley employees will be built during the project. 

The project area is about 512 acres. 

“The Nordic Village project is an excellent example of how [tax increment financing] can promote long-term economic and environmental sustainability through strategic development practices,” said Stephanie Russell, Weber County’s economic development director.
