Vision Ministries is struggling with significant damage to its fellowship hall after Hurricane Helene swept through the area. Despite the destruction, Pastor Miller says the church’s mission to serve those in need remains a top priority. Behind the church, the fellowship hall suffers the most from the storm’s impact on the property. A massive tree, partially chopped up by the church, still lies across the structure and on the ground. The roof has caved in, with branches and debris stuck in the wreckage of the building. Since the week of the storm, debris has been gathered in the church’s driveway, awaiting pickup by Greenwood County. “So, it’s a blind spot; we can’t see how to get out,” Miller said. Before the storm, the fellowship hall was busy with community service. Vision Ministries said it provided summer meals to 300 students and distributed weekend meals to homeless individuals along Phoenix Street. …
