JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said the much-needed facility is coming along slowly, but surely.
The project has three phases. As of now, much of the infrastructure phases have been completed.
“We did have somewhat of some setbacks, but they weren’t major,” said Jones. Jones also tells us there were small challenges along the way.
“We were able to get past those to go ahead and move forward,” he continued. “I think that was probably the financing phase of the building of the facility. I think they have gotten it clear to go ahead with that and we should be wrapping that up in the next week or two.”
Currently at the site, you can see phase one of construction for the Hinds County Criminal Justice facility. The new detention center will replace the current jail in Raymond.
