Where the weather numbers matter in the Triad [Video]

We’re looking at where the temperatures and other current atmospheric conditions are measured here in the Triad every hour of every day of the year. At the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, an unmanned weather station is where all the current weather data is measured, collected and disseminated to the National Weather Service in Raleigh and to all of the public via media, various websites and weather apps. This current weather data eventually becomes Climate Data for the area. When set or broken, records are recorded from this Greensboro reporting site.The ASOS weather site is here on the grounds of PTI. ASOS stands for Automated Surface Observing System. Hourly weather conditions are recorded by these automated sensors. Typically, they are located at airports all across the country.
