KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The town of White Pine has started planning for how they’ll create new city ordinances to allow liquor to be sold in stores within town limits.
The referendum was on the ballot for people in White Pine on Nov. 5.
Emily Jarnigan said she was for the referendum because of how it could benefit White Pine.
“I totally support it. Our people are already leaving the county, and our tax money, that revenue money, is going to other counties. Why not keep it here in this small town?” Jarnigan said.
Some in White Pine were opposed to the measure. Those who didn‘t want to go on camera said there are liquor stores and bars right across town limits and that it’s not necessary for White Pine.
