Whitmer begins tour to highlight crucial legislative races [Video]

ROCHESTER, Mich. (WWJ) — Michigan’s governor is working to ensure what she calls “critical state races” don’t get lost in the hyper-focus of the Presidential election.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is kicking of a “barnstorming” tour of the state, meeting Thursday with political candidates and small business owners in Rochester.

“We’re getting all across the state talking about the issues that matter to Michiganders,” Whitmer said. “We know that our voices are going to be outsized in this election as they are in every presidential.”

“It’s going to come down to a handful of states, and in the midst of all of that, we’ve got important, high level, crucial legislative races,” Whitmer said. “That’s why I’m here with these great legislative candidates.”
