HE HAS MORE ON TODAY’S SNOWFALL RECIPE. TUESDAY MORNING’S WEATHER EVENT WAS A BIT UNUSUAL IN THE TRIAD FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS. WELL, FIRST, IT WAS THE FIRST MEASURABLE SNOW THAT WE’VE HAD HERE IN MORE THAN A THOUSAND DAYS. BUT SECONDLY, IT IMPACTED THE SOUTHERN AREAS MORE THAN THE NORTHERN AREAS. THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN. WE HAD SEVERAL COMMUNITIES THAT SAW MORE THAN AN INCH OF SNOW EARLY IN THE MORNING, BUT THIS STORM SYSTEM HAD SEVERAL LIMITING FACTORS. FIRST, STORMS THAT COME IN OVER THE MOUNTAINS TYPICALLY DON’T BRING A LOT OF SNOW THIS WAY. THIS ONE HAD SOME UPPER LEVEL SUPPORT. THE AIR WAS VERY DRY BEFORE THE STORM CAME IN, AND THAT USUALLY ABSORBS A LOT OF THE PRECIPITATION BEFORE IT HITS THE GROUND. THE SECOND THING IS IT WAS QUICK.
