CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Dozens of local businesses and organizations are teaming up to level the playing field for women in the workforce as part of the third annual Pay Equity Signing Day.
A small crowd gathered at Memorial Hall. More than 35 business leaders grabbed their pens and signed the “Pay Equity Commitment,” a written promise to help establish equal pay in the workplace.
It is also a celebration of closing the gender and race-based pay gaps that still exist today in the 21st Century.
“The other piece of this is that when women aren’t paid the same as men, the whole community is failing,” said Hamilton County Commission Vice President Denise Driehaus. “Women are oftentimes head of household. They are driving the economy. They are raising families. And when they’re not paid adequately, then we all suffer from that.”
