57 tons of trash removed from Tijuana River Valley sod farm so far [Video]

SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — The sod farm in the Tijuana River Valley is starting to look like it did before a powerful January storm hit the region flooding the area and covering it with trash and debris that flowed in from Tijuana.

Almost all the trash has been pushed aside revealing a lush green carpet made of grass.

The International Boundary and Water Commission, which oversees the land, has been in charge of the cleanup, using crews and equipment based in Texas.

The back-breaking work began more than a month ago when IBWC started moving the trash and debris into big piles and mounds.

A local contractor has been hired to provide dumpsters and then haul the trash to an area landfill.
