Central-Phenix City pounded 11 hits on the way to a 5-1 victory over Auburn to claim the Class 7A Area 4 title on Monday in AHSAA softball action.
The winner and runnerup in each of 16 areas in Class 1A-6A and eight areas in Class 7A advance to one of four regionals starting on May 6.
The fourth-ranked Red Devils (44-3-1) scored 4 runs in the first three innings and pitcher Ally Supan did the rest.
Bria Allen led the Central offense with 3 hits, including a solo home run in the third inning and run-scoring single in the first.
McKinley Allen was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and leadoff Gerritt Griggs was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run.
Central also had 6 stolen bases in the game, Griggs with 2 steals.
Supan struck out 3 and allowed 8 hits.
Auburn’s Madison Allen was 2-for-4 with a run and Abigail Helms had a run-soring single.
