St. Louis begins its season on the road versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday.
LOS ANGELES — The St. Louis Cardinals will begin its 2024 Major League Baseball regular season on the road versus the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Miles Mikolas will take the mound for St. Louis against Tyler Glasnow for Los Angeles.
Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani is recovering from an injured elbow ligament and is not expected to pitch this year. He will most likely make his Los Angeles home debut as a designated hitter.
Mikolas was named the Opening Day starter after Sonny Gray, who signed a three-year, $75 million contract, was scheduled to be the starter. Gray strained his right hamstring on March 4 during a spring training game.
This will be Mikolas’ third Opening Day start in his career, the previous two (2019 and 2023) also with the Cardinals.
