ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Small businesses are considered to be companies with 500 employees or fewer.

The “least of the less” is the individual or sole proprietor, and Aberdeen is home to a couple of “sole proprietor” female-owned businesses.

In many cases, an individual business springs out of one’s youth. That’s the case with the owner of “Inventorium,” Jackie Dunlavy.

“I’ve always enjoyed collecting and going to auctions with my parents, and then later, antique stores with my sister. When I was getting ready to retire from the military, I decided to start the business,” said Dunlavy.

Dunlavy shared the background of the company.

“The Inventorium is a repurposing and refinishing business I started in 2019, and since then, we’ve relocated to the Aberdeen area and sell out of two locations,” said Dunlavy.

One is in Redfield. The other is in the “Ax Throwing” building.

Abby Murano of Junque Shack takes a different sales approach.
