City of Charleston providing opportunity to small business owners [Video]

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The city of Charleston is hosting a small business opportunity expo to help small businesses grow, expand and thrive.

The expo is about assisting small business owners whether their business already exists or are just looking to start a business. The event will focus on under-represented, disadvantaged, veteran, minority and women-owned businesses.

Minority and Women-Owned Business Office Manager Ruth Jordan says they want to focus on these groups because they know how important access to opportunity is. She says that they understand, statistically, that small business owners, and these groups in particular, usually do not have the same access or knowledge as bigger corporations, but they mean a lot to the city. Jordan says she encourages anyone looking to improve or start their business, to come out to the expo.
