City of Parkersburg looks for developers for Market Street property [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Friday afternoon the City of Parkersburg Development Director, Ryan Barber, held an open house in search of a buyer for 714 Market St.

The city is looking to split the unit into something that will benefit Downtown Parkersburg and fit the culture they are building now.

Barber says they are searching for a developer looking to build a housing unit on the top floor and a retail business on the ground floor but finding a buyer is most important.

“We do want the highest benefit to the city, we aren’t looking for the highest price point of course that still is important. But when we are looking at potential development firms coming into this space we are looking for capacity and has the means to redevelop a space this big and important to our downtown,” said Barber.
