Sacramento city officials announced the tiny home sleeping cabins provided by Gov. Gavin Newson are scheduled to be completed in Fall 2024.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Construction began Friday on 175 tiny home sleeping cabins for emergency shelter and services on 6820 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento city officials said.

“Sacramento is demonstrating leadership among local jurisdictions in its efforts to provide small homes for Sacramentans in need,” said Newsom. “As the first location to break ground on this project, Sacramento exemplifies the can-do spirit needed to reject the status quo and find innovative ways to get people off the streets and into housing.”

The tiny homes will be run on the site temporarily as property owner WellSpace Health develops a Community Wellness Campus nearby.

Stockton Boulevard will be the third Safe Stay community in Sacramento, including ones on Florin & Power Inn roads and East Parkway. Both emergency shelter sites opened last year.
