Curry County treasurer to resign later this month | Top Stories [Video]

CURRY COUNTY, Ore. — Curry County treasurer David Barnes will resign later this month. 

According to a news release from Curry County sent out today, he announced his resignation at the April 3 Board of Commissioners Business Meeting. 

“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to be elected to a public office, especially one such as this,” Barnes said in the release. “Words cannot express my gratitude for the trust that you have put in me to be your Treasurer.”

Barnes has been the treasurer for three years, the release said. He will officially step down on April 30. 

“Barnes strongly recommended that Deputy Treasurer, Nick Vicino… be appointed to the position in his absence,” the release said. “The Board of Commissioners moved to appoint (Vicino) as interim Treasurer effective May 1, 2024.
