BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A strip club in Birmingham is facing legal trouble after two former dancers at Sammy’s Gentleman’s club sued, accusing the owners of wage violations, ‘Socialist’ tip sharing and illegal kickbacks.
The main argument of the suit says Sammy’s mischaracterizes the dancers as contractors instead of employees of the club. It also claims the company is violating federal labor laws.
“You shouldn’t have to pay to work in America. kickback to your employers. you shouldn’t have some socialist system where one group of employees subsidizes the other group of employees and the employer takes all the money for themselves,” says attorney John Kristensen.
Those alleged practices are why attorneys say Sammy’s gentleman’s club in Birmingham is being sued. Aa lawsuit brought by former dancers Kelley McDonald and Taylor Smith accuse the strip club of forcing the dancers to share their tips with workers who don’t usually receive tips. These …
