WALMART will reportedly shutter doors to two additional locations with underperformance to blame.
The Walmart locations that will shut down are located in California and Maryland.
The store closures were announced on Wednesday, March 13, Business Insider reported.
Senior Director of Global Communications and Corporate Affairs at Walmart, Charles Crowson, explained the company is doing well overall.
But some stores can not keep up with financial expectations.
“We have more than 5,000 Walmart stores and Neighborhood Markets across the U.S., and unfortunately, some don’t meet our financial expectations, Crowson told USA TODAY.
“While our underlying business is strong, these stores haven’t performed as well as we’d hoped.”
Crowson highlighted that shutting down stores is never an easy decision for Walmart.
