Election Commission Sets Limits On Star Campaigners’ Poll Expenditure; Here’s How Much They Can Spend [Video]

The Election Commission has announced spending limits for candidates contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. Candidates from small states are permitted to spend a maximum of Rs 75 lakh, while those from larger states can spend up to Rs 95 lakh. Similarly, the expenditure limit for candidates in assembly elections has been capped at Rs 40 lakh. This includes all campaign-related expenses, from meetings and rallies to advertisements and vehicle costs.

To ensure fairness and curb the influence of money power in elections, the Commission has directed that candidates are required to maintain a detailed diary of their daily expenses, starting from the nomination filing process until the conclusion of the election. These records must be submitted to the Commission for scrutiny.
