Fatal car crash in Grants Pass | Local [Video]

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — The Grants Pass Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash that took place Saturday morning, killing a five-year-old girl.

According to a press release, GPPD received calls at around 11:24 a.m. about a child who was hit in the parking lot of a business near Fruitdale Drive near Highway 238. GPPD officers and first responders from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, and Grants Pass Fire/Rescue responded to the scene.

Officials found a five-year-old girl seriously injured at the scene, and AMR transferred her to the Three Rivers Medical Center. The girl later died from her injuries. Due to her age, her name is not being released by GPPD.

“With the assistance of witnesses, it was determined the vehicle that struck her was unoccupied,” the release said. “The owner of the car, a 74-year old man, had parked the car and exited it in the parking lot. …
