FIRST ALERT: Emergency repairs on I-95 causing traffic delays [Video]

DORCHESTER & COLLETON COUNTIES, S.C. (WCSC) – Emergency maintenance to the interstate is causing traffic delays starting 2 miles south of Saint George.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation reported that the right lane of Interstate 95 north around mile marker 75 is undergoing construction to perform emergency bridge deck repairs. SCDOT first alerted motorists of the issue late Saturday morning.

While crews were able to put a temporary repair in place, repair teams say they have found the issue to be in urgent need of immediate permanent repair.

Traffic on I-95 north has slowed significantly as far back as mile marker 68, just north of Walterboro.

Motorists should expect delays, follow traffic signage in the area, exercise caution while traveling and seek out alternative routes if at all possible.
