HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The air will chill to 40 by dawn (30s across the open countryside). Fog on riverbanks, heavy dew on golf course greens and fairways and yes even a kiss of frost in the coldest hollows will greet the first light of Friday. Then a hazy, sunshiny morning will give way to gathering afternoon clouds. Highs will make the mid-70s before a scattered evening shower passes.

Saturday and Sunday will turn into a preview of summer as highs soar into the 80s with sunshine and hot southerly breezes. Looking ahead to next week, there is a last chance of thundershowers by Monday-Tuesday before we turn the calendar to May and get set for Kentucky Derby weekend. Early week heat in the 80s will turn more tepid with highs in the 70s as we look ahead to the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.
