FIRST WARN FORECAST: Clear & cold to start the week, big warmup ahead [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Both the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere are pulling in colder air from Canada. The upper-level jetstream has dipped significantly over the Tennessee River Valley and has caught the Missouri River Valley on its back edge. At the same time, the mid-levels of our atmosphere are producing high pressure centered over the Central Plains. This is creating a northwesterly flow with our wind aiding and pulling cooler air from up north. This produces a colder air scenario which has our mornings dropping down into the lower 20s today with afternoon high temperatures in the lower 40s. Mostly sunny skies however will be common. We could still see occasional gusts around 20 mph through lunchtime but then diminish that wind as high-pressure centers over the area.
