Girl Scouts San Diego celebrates 23 years of Operation Thin Mint with Sendoff and Family Festival aboard USS Midway Museum [Video]

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Operation Thin Mint, a program created in San Diego to send boxes of Girl Scout Cookies to deployed troops, hit a milestone of 23 years and 4.2 million packages this year.

Saturday’s Operation Thin Mint Sendoff and Family Festival hosted more than 1,500 Girl Scouts and their families at the USS Midway Museum in downtown San Diego for an evening of music, interactive booths, and a patriotic pep rally.

The top 10 Operation Thin Mint Entrepreneurs, along with 69 Elite Entrepreneurs who marketed 2,024 cookie packages or more, were honored at the event.

The CEO of Girl Scouts San Diego, Carol Dedrich, and Sky Williams, co-host of The Show on Rock 105.3, led a patriotic pep rally on the flight deck honoring the top Girl Scout cookie entrepreneurs and military troops, along with highlighting the impact of the Girl Scout Cookie Program and Operation Thin Mint.
