Great Lakes Loons get ready for the start of 17th season | Sports [Video]

MIDLAND, Mich. (WJRT) – Staff is hard at work at Dow Diamond, getting the stadium ready for Opening Day.

The Great Lakes Loons say Friday is the biggest day of the year for local baseball fans, and the work starts almost as soon as the last season ends.

“It’s what we work all off season for we’ve been working at this since the first of October, getting ready for April 5 and so the fact that April 5 is finally here kind of a weight lifted off our shoulders because we finally got to this point,” said Corporate Partnership and Entertainment Manager Eric Vandefifer.

Vandefifer says the last two months especially have taken a lot of work to tighten things up before the big day.

“It’s been kind of a downhill sprint to tomorrow for the last two months of just playing catch-up trying to get everything done,” said Vandefifer. …
