Heavy showers at times today, more snow for the Cascades [Video]

Good morning! It’s a cool and showery start to our day across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington. A low pressure system is spinning offshore of the southern Washington Coast and spreading showers across the region. This is a robust little system that will pack quite the punch today. Showers will come through pretty frequently and will produce heavy rainfall rates. There could even be a few thunderstorms out there. Expect to deal with small hail at times and gusty winds. Some thunder and lightning can’t be ruled out. Temperatures will only reach the mid 50s across the metro area.

The Cascades have picked up significant snowfall over the past 24 hours. In some cases, we’ve seen over a foot of snow, with plenty more to come. Today is a First Alert Weather Day for the Cascades to highlight the late season snow. This isn’t going to be a historic snow …
