HERMON – After making the playoffs last year, Hermon Hawks baseball are pumped to start game action in 2024.
“We’re not going to play around,” senior infielder/pitcher Max Hopkins says. “We’re going to make people know we left a mark.”
The Hawks finished 10th in B North in 2023 and picked up a playoff win against Foxcroft Academy, but still left a lot to be desired. That is, to a point.
“It was slightly disappointing for us as a program, but the kids worked hard and we learned a lot,” head coach Matt Kinney says.
That learning was especially present through their young core, which makes up a bulk of their squad this year with just four starters coming back, but even just a little game experience could pay dividends.
“A lot of those players just needed one year to get used to the varsity level,” senior catcher Danny Fowler says. …
