Horace High School in-house coffee shop teaching skills to students of all abilities [Video]

HORACE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Horace High School has been kept caffeinated this school year thanks to its new, in-house coffee shop.

The brick-and-mortar shop has been teaching students of all abilities real life skills they can carry over to life beyond the classroom. The school has also it started a new, peer-to-peer program, where students are implementing special education practices to help their friends with disabilities succeed.

“I joked at the beginning of the year I was excited to be the caffeine keeper of Horace High,” says teacher Morgan Steffins.

A good day starts with a good cup of coffee. It’s something Horace students can attest to, with the opening of Early Bird. Some of the students are actually running the shop: brewing coffee, steaming milk, taking orders, and working the cash register.
