KMBC Editorial: Detailed stadium plan needed before next ballot issue [Video]

The Chiefs and Royals have more work to do with Jackson County residents.On Tuesday, voters rejected the plan to extend the 3/8th-cent sales tax to support the teams for the next 40 years.We believe the “no” vote was not a vote against keeping the teams but dissatisfaction with the rushed and haphazard process for the ballot issue.Simply “trusting” each team to do their part without detailed agreements was simply not enough for some voters.Others did not feel the teams planned to support the entire community.There was also concern about displacing small businesses.Since the vote, leaders from both teams expressed their disappointment but also respect for voters and their desire to stay in Jackson County.This is a good development.The goal now is putting together a detailed plan that incorporates voter concerns.That plan should be available to read well before the next ballot issue.Finding a deal to keep the Chiefs and Royals …
