Lexington Legends kick off Opening Day at Legends Field [Video]

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Opening Day at Legends Field was nothing shy of what people hoped for.

Fans lined up at the gates more than two hours before the first pitch, fueled up for the start of the season. The team is back to its original name with a new front office this season.

“I used to love coming to Lexington, love the community support, and that hasn’t been here in the last few years, it’s fallen on rough times. We just cherish the opportunity to bring it back, work with the community to make it happen again,” said owner Andy Sandler.

Legends players said the day was long awaited. Kole Cottam, the Legends catcher, is returning to Lexington soil as he was on the University of Kentucky team from 2016–2018.
