Light showers tonight and Friday morning; but strong thunderstorms for some Friday afternoon [Video]

Today has turned out to be a nice warm and mainly sunny day. Just a few high clouds have been drifting by from time to time and temperatures are above normal for early April…topping out in the mid-60s.

A very weak weather system is about to arrive on the coastline and it’ll spread light rain onshore during the overnight hours. Expect the first sprinkles around sunset or so in the western valleys and Portland metro area. We don’t expect much rain with this system since the stronger part is headed down to California. We are left with light morning rain, in fact more “drippy” than really wet during the morning commute. For most of us the showers will be done by midday and some sunshine breaks out for a very nice 2nd half of the day. In fact, we’ll still end up with a warmer than normal day.
