Local leaders ask public to pass measures on safety, roads, and mental health services [Video]

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Local leaders gathered Wednesday to encourage voters to approve a series of ballot measures ahead of the March 19 primary election.

Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and Scott Sylak, the Executive Director of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board held a news conference at Toledo Fire Station #4 on Hill Avenue Wednesday morning. They’re asking the public to approve Issues 1, 2, and 8.

Toledo voters will weigh in on ballot issues 1 and 2, both income tax renewals. Issue 1 is .75% income tax renewal primarily for police, fire and safety funding. Issue 2 is a .25% income tax renewal that focuses in road improvements.

Lucas County voters will weigh in on Issue 8, a 1 Mill property tax for additional and mental health services as well as alcohol/drug addiction and mental health facilities. If approved, it would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $35 annually. An existing …
