Lucky Kilmartin’s ‘Out of Touch’ opens with a mix of spoken interludes and jaunty, baroque piano-based hooks before rasping vocals take over, lamenting how easy it is to feel left behind as things start to fall apart: ‘I cannot compete with you’; ‘it’s a boring way to die’.

Potent bursts of guitar pepper the remainder of the song as Lucky reinforces the fact ‘I need something to believe’ amidst a sound that recalls both The Lemon Twigs and Elliott Smith. It then heads into a more psychedelic space – that captures the mixed feelings and confusion going round – before settling back into the more melodic yet poignant pop sensibilities.
