McDonald’s wants to beef up its burger game.
On Tuesday, the chain’s CFO Ian Borden told Fox Business it has “created a larger satiating burger” as it “look[s] to further build on our leadership in beef.”
“We’ll be testing this burger in a few markets later this year, ensuring that it has universal appeal before scaling it across the globe,” he told the news outlet.
The news comes as CNBC reported during an earnings call on Tuesday that McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said the chain needs to remain “laser-focused” on affordability to attract diners who are watching their spending.
“It is clear that broad-based consumer pressures persist around the world,” he said.
It’s unlikely a beefier burger would fall under the category of affordability. McDonald’s didn’t share any details about the future menu item, but Fox Business reported McDonald’s previously hinted at the fact it was working on a bigger burger.
