Meadowview Farmer’s Market in south Sacramento starts June 2 [Video]

Years-long efforts by south Sacramento residents to get a farmer’s market in Meadowview preceded Vang’s announcement.

Meadowview community leader Mikaili Kamau told ABC10 last year he’d like to see a member of the community hired as farmers market operator.

“Let’s not waste money and the opportunity to have a regular Meadowview farmers market by following the routine practice of endless planning and parades of consultants,” he said. “This market should be planned, initiated and operated by Meadowview neighbors and volunteers.”

Grocery stores are not as accessible for Meadowview residents, making the farmer’s market imperative.

“This is about improving health outcomes for our families,” Vang said. “We’re really excited for the community.”
