Millions of dollars awarded to Ohios Appalachian riverfront cities [Video]

NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (WXIX) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Tuesday a multi-million dollar grant that will help transform communities along the state’s Appalachian Riverfront as part of Ohio’s Wonderful Waterfront initiative.

Approximately $80 million in funding from the Appalachian Community Grant Program was awarded to several shovel-ready and planning projects, and the Village of Ripley will be awarded $16.3 million of that total.

“We could not be more pleased and we are very grateful to Governor DeWine and everyone else involved at the state level who saw fit to award us this grant,” said Ripley Mayor Travis Arnett. “We are looking forward to showcasing our historical assets and our new beautiful downtown and riverfront. We invite everyone to come see us and take a look for themselves when it’s complete.”
