Mississippi Action Progress non-profit offering early Head Start program to Jefferson County families [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Mississippi Action Progress (MAP) Head Start program provides free childcare for newborns up to 5 year olds and has returned after several years.

The Jefferson County Head Start program was taken over by Mississippi Action Progress last year, and they are now looking for more students and teachers.

To attract new families and teachers, MAP will host a spring recruiting event from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Dr. Craig Pouncey Center in Center Point. They are currently recruiting for open positions at several locations, including the Craig Pouncey Center in Center Point, Kingston School in Kingston, and two locations near Elyton and Cooper Green.

According to program leaders, the lack of affordable childcare makes their partnership with Mississippi Action Progress and the grant they received to offer early Head Start even more crucial.
