Northwest ADA Center leader tackles Alaska’s disability challenges, foster accessibility | Homepage [Video]

Leaders with the Northwest ADA Center are in Alaska this week, learning about the disability issues facing residents.

The center’s director Katie Warden is taking a tour of the state. She and her team were in Juneau earlier this week, and now they’re in Anchorage trying to build relationships with community leaders and local organizations.

They also have plans to meet up with the lieutenant governor.

Their goal is to try and help make the state’s businesses, parks, and public transportation in Alaska as accessible as possible.

“Sometimes we assume that we know who people with disabilities are, and it’s a small group. But really this is, as we often say, our nation’s largest minority group. It includes people with physical and invisible disabilities,” said Warden.
