Omaha leaders declare support for potentially funding P.A.C.E [Video]

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert issues a letter of support for the youth sports group Police Athletics for Community Engagement, also known as P.A.C.E.The nonprofit is working to re-brand following the fraud case that landed its former executive director in prison. Other city leaders agree that it’s time to back the organization. South Omaha’s Councilmember Ron Hug said it’s time to rally around P.A.C.E. He applauded the mayor’s action Thursday.”This is a program that had a positive effect on keeping kids off the street, out of gangs, providing positive role models for kids that quite frankly didn’t have a role model,” Hug said.In her letter, Stothert said P.A.C.E can continue to use city fields, officers can continue to volunteer and stated intent to work with the organization.
