Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert says granting her a fourth term would keep the city ‘moving forward’ [Video]

Jean Stothert, Omaha’s first female mayor, is bidding to extend her record as the city’s longest-serving mayor in the modern era.

Stothert announced Tuesday she would seek a fourth term in office in 2025, ending speculation about whether or not she would run again. The three-term incumbent, a Republican, officially declared her run before any major potential rivals to lead the city have announced their candidacies.

“We really have a record of progress, determination and success. And together, we do have the momentum to build Omaha into the city of the future,” Stothert said Tuesday. “We are focused on public safety, employment and business growth, investment in our urban core and historic neighborhoods, strong financial management and creating opportunities for everyone.”
