Penobscot Theater Company bringing Penobscot Nation stories to main stage | Live Interviews [Video]

BANGOR — A new show featuring stories from the Penobscot Nation is primed to open this weekend at the Penobscot Theatre Company. 

Starting this weekend, PTC will showcase My Story is Gluskabe, a new adaptation of a collection of myths surrounding Gluskabe, a cultural hero of the Penobscot Nation, storied for creating the Penobscot River and other natural wonders.

But this isn’t the first time PTC has adapted these stories. 

The company originally brought Gluskabe to the stage through its dramatic academy program under the guidance of Carol Dana and Margo Lukens back in 2016. 

“Jonathan, about a year and a half ago, was like, ‘We should do the show again, but we should do a full professional production with adult actors but also include students from our dramatic academy,” says PTC executive director Jen Shepard.  

For some of those involved, the show offers a one-of-a-kind experience.
