Police identify Saginaw man found slain in store he worked at, arrest suspect [Video]

SAGINAW, MI — Police have confirmed the identity of a body found during a reported fire at a Saginaw party store. They’ve also confirmed the man was the victim of a homicide, and arrested a suspect in the killing.

The body of Tyrone Cannady, 40, was recovered from K&D Market, 2716 S. Jefferson Ave., early in the morning of Monday, April 29.

Firefighters and police responded to the business shortly after 1 a.m. on receiving reports of smoke emanating from the building.

On entering the business, fire crews extinguished a small blaze and found Cannady’s body. Cannady had worked at the market, police said.

Preliminary autopsy findings indicate Cannady died from gunfire, police said.

Saginaw police on Tuesday located and arrested a 41-year-old Flint man as a suspect in the case. They lodged him at the Saginaw County Jail on an open murder charge at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday.
