Georgia* was happy working in a new remote role and thought it was the perfect time to get a puppy.

But months after welcoming a new addition into her home, her employers announced they would be looking for an office.

Georgia had taken the role because it offered flexibility, which was missing in her previous job, and was disappointed an employer could make such a drastic change with little consultation.

It has prompted Georgia to look for a new role. And she is not alone, with research showing more than half of employees would quit their job if their flexible work conditions changed.

Recruitment agency Randstad’s latest Workmonitor survey of 27,000 workers from 34 markets revealed 55 per cent of Aussie workers believed flexible work was non-negotiable.
