San Diego Unified unveils first student-run food truck [Video]

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego Unified School District unveils its first student-designed and-operated food truck.

“We are actually empowering kids to build their own business and then also learn skills along the way that they can use here in school, but also in their years beyond high school,” Intuit’s Silke Bradford said.

The program is in partnership with Intuit – the maker of Turbotax, Quickbooks and other small business tools. They donated the food truck, equipped with a fully operational commercial-grade kitchen, allowing SDUSD’S College, Career and Technical Education students to develop technical, financial and entrepreneurial skills needed to run a business.
