Shelby County leaders plan to resurface several county roads through 2024 [Video]

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Your drive in Shelby County is about to get much smoother.

The county commission has approved several resurfacing projects on the east and west side of the county.

Each year, the county makes an effort to repair as many roads as possible with funds from the fuel tax revenue.

This year, they have split the project into two starting with 21 roads on the east side of the county.

The county is working with cities like Harpersville and Wilsonville who have streets that also need to be resurfaced, and those are included in this project.

Each year, the county allocates about $5 million to $6 million for these resurfacing projects starting with the roads that need the most work.

Crews will begin to work on the east side of the county in April.
