Sioux City St. Patrick’s Day Parade returning on Sunday [Video]

SIOUX CITY — Sons and daughters of the Emerald Isle — as well as people who are simply Irish-for-a-Day — will be goin’ green during downtown Sioux City’s 16th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The event will start at 3 p.m. Sunday on the corner of Fourth and Iowa streets, heading west down Fourth before ending on Water St.

More than 50 local organizations, businesses and families will have floats in the parade, which is sponsored by MVS Metals.

That’s change from Sioux City’s first St. Patrick’s Day, which was organized by founders Mac Dolan and Kelly Quinn in 2009.

“When Kelly and I (informally) started the parade, it was basically made up of cars and trucks driven by members of our respective families,” Dolan said.

Since then, Sioux City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade has grown into one of the biggest springtime celebrations in the area.
