ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Get ready for another round of snow for Anchorage. The city has 113.6 inches of snow through the winter season so far, and the advisory calls for 6-10 inches of snow over the city to Eagle River.
The advisory spans Saturday, starting at 1 a.m. and going through 11 p.m. Highest snowfall rates are expected between 6 a.m.-3 pm. with the highest snow amounts along the hillside and higher elevations.
As for the rest of the state, expect cooler temperatures and fewer warnings and advisories as the weekend starts. A large low pressure system hits the western Aleutians late in the weekend to Monday.
Wind chills will drop to 50 below around Wainwright.
Southeast Alaska’s Petersburg area will also see a winter weather advisory. It starts at 3 p.m. Saturday, and goes into Sunday. This warns of 3 to 5 inches of snow, and winds gusting to 45 mph.
