FLINT, MI — The Michigan Department of Transportation plans to close all southbound I-475 traffic lanes at Carpenter Road starting next week as work continues on a multi-year reconstruction of the expressway.
Southbound I-475 will be closed from Carpenter Road to the Flint River from May 3-5 and again from May 10-12 for bridge work in the area, MDOT said in a Monday, April 29, news release.
Southbound traffic will be detoured via exit 11 to Carpenter Road, Selby Street, and then back onto I-475 via the Selby Street on-ramp, according to the agency.
Traffic in the three-mile stretch has been slowed since the $141-million project started earlier this month.
All northbound lanes — where work is being focused this year — have been closed since April 15 and all but one lane of southbound traffic has also been closed since that time in the Flint area.
